#AD Planning my next adventure with Cabin Zero

What do you dream of? I dream of travelling – seeing new places, experiencing new things and creating amazing memories.  So when the guys at Cabin Zero asked me if I wanted to test out one of their innovative travel bags I jumped at the chance!

Myself and my partner travel to a new place on a ‘us time’ mini-break every year, as well as taking a family holiday and for me travel really does feed my soul.  Travel for us isnt just about seeing a new place. Its about taking the time to be a couple, not just mum and dad, and its something we promised each other we’d always do when we first got together and after 5 years together we’re 5 trips down…

Now, the dream of travelling is a great one but what about the practicalities? What do you pack? And more importantly, what do you pack it in?

I chose the Classic Flags ultra light cabin bag in orange chill. Its a limited edition design in the larger 44L size.  I love the look of this bag in its bright, but not garish burnt orange colourway and its retro applique flag patches over it.

Its size is perfect as carry on luggage (it measures the regulation 55cm x 40cm x 20cm), it is really lightweight (760grams) and holds so much. I don’t like to travel light (hey, you know I love fashion!) so all this is important to me, but the best part of Cabin Zero’s innovative design is rather than wheel it along, you carry it, either by its handle or using the two padded back straps like a rucksack. This leaves you free to carry another bag or just move around really easily…now that is brilliant!

Inside it has a zipped pocket and mesh compartment, perfect for smaller items.

And to keep all those bulky contents as small as possible, side compression straps.

Theres also a built-in global luggage tracker powered by OkobanN that you register your details on and a 10 years warranty (upgradable to 25 years free of charge if you ‘like’ them on Facebook).

This is a fantastic travel bag both in its styling and its innovation. I can fit everything I need into it and because you carry it like a rucksack, any weight is easy to carry. I will definitely be swapping it for my usual wheelie case as it is so much easier to use. I can’t wait to use mine on my next adventure. Now, the only other question is – where to go…?

Beach bag £14 – Matalan

I couldn’t resist this fabulous beach bag in Matalan on a recent visit. It cost just £14 but looks so much more expensive than that with some fantastic details. Plus its huge…you could easily fit your towel, book, suncream etc. inside – I mean, what more could you want in a summer bag?!?

Its detailing is really good (beading and thick embroidery) and there’s a matching tassel charm too!

It is also lined in black cotton, with a magnetic fastening, zip pocket and additional phone size pocket. For me, these little details make it more versatile than a normal beach bag and therefore an even better buy.

I won’t just save this for the beach…I’m using it as a great ‘carry everything’ summer bag now.

There’s quite a few different designs to choose from – find the full range here or pop into your nearest Matalan store.

Upgrade your handbag

New fashion hack alert! In todays blog I will take you through a little bit of customising I recently did to a cute Disney handbag I bought from Primark. Its a nice bag but costing only £9 meant that it was never going to have those little extras that makes a more premium bag feel special.

Now I cant afford Coach (well I can but would rather spend it on my house… priorities right?), but I can be creative and by spending a tenner you can take a nice bag and make it a REALLY nice bag!

First pick your weapons – I wanted to create an ornate bag charm similar to the ones seen on the recent Disney Coach bags so I found a couple of cute charms that matched the colours of the bag and fitted in with a cute Disney vibe.

I then removed the existing zipper pull and replaced it with a simple tassel from the eBay bag charm. I kept the original pull safe as I knew I’d be using it and deconstructed the 2 charms ready to use them.

I then added the deconstructed pieces to a large Mickey Mouse keyring I had trawled eBay for. This was the key item of the bag upgrade and it took me a while to find as I wanted him to match the colours of the bag print exactly. The key to customisation is making sure your finish is good and all your components look like they were meant to be there i.e. dont use anything in a silver metal if the rest of the bag is finished in gold for example.

I then attached the new charm to one end of the bag adding the original zipper pull. By using an original part of the bag in this new charm makes the whole thing feel like it was designed as part of the bag.

And finally the finished product! I love my customised, improved and upgraded bag and its been getting lots of admiring glances and positive comments. Remember, being stylish is about creating looks YOU love and are personal to YOU; so mix and match, take things apart and put them back together again and tweak clothing to make it fit how you like it. After all who wants exactly the same things as everyone else?

Lulu Guinness for Red Nose Day 2015

I love Lulu Guinness and when I heard she was designing a set of 3 limited edition tote bags for Red Nose day I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one.

Available from Sainsburys, over the last few years it has been a great way to get a designer print bag and donate to a great charity at the same time.  Lulu designed the set in 2013, and Giles Deacon designed them for Sports Relief  last year as seen below. Did you get one?  They sold out very quickly…

This year the three bags really sum up the Lulu Guinness look -

I went for the striped kisses version – I do love a cute lip print!  The bags are a great size, well made with an interior pocket and hard base.  Perfect for heavier items if you were food shopping or just as a throwover your shoulder fashion tote bag.

The bags cost £5 from Sainburys stores with at least £1.50 of that going to Comic Relief.  A great bag and a donation to charity.  Seems like a no-brainer to me!

Pop instore and grab yours now!  They are already selling on eBay for lots more!!!

Red Nose Day is on Friday 15th March.  Find more information on how you can participate here.
