Copenhagen H&M shopping haul

I recently blogged about a great trip I had to Copenhagen, Denmark.  I love fashion and I love H&M and the stores out there (being Scandinavian) were amazing!  In fact there were about five different ones in the city centre alone!

Today I thought I’d share with you what I bought…

I love a dress and ended up buying a few, plus a top, jewellery and accessories.  Danish Krona equates to about 10: £1 and although the items weren’t hughly cheaper than the UK a lot of items that have only just launched in the UK were heavily reduced in their sale.h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

Jewel Print dress – £5.00 (reduced from £29.99). I have loved this jewel print range and seen pieces on other bloggers but not been able to track any pieces down. This is a mini dress/tunic top with wide 60’s sleeves.  I wore it out recently with wet look leggings and heels and felt very ‘Megan Draper from Mad Men’! The print is just gorgeous.  It is a loosish fit and the size 8 (H&M size 34) fitted me perfectly.h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

Palm detail dress – £5.00 (reduced from £39.99).  This is a heavyweight lined cotton mesh dress and very unusual – I love the french knot embroidery detail and its casual fit.

h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog Striped top – £17.99 – an absolutely classic, elegant look with a high turtle neck.  I’m planning on teaming it with white trousers or wide leg jeans.h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

H&M loves Coachella lace dress/cover up – £14.99. The minute I saw this on the mannequin I knew I had to have it. I thought it was a total bargain at £15 and the bright coral crochet lace is very nicely done. It can be worn as a beach cover-up but I will wear it with a slip underneath as a short summer dress.  On my boyfriends advice I went for a size small for a more fitted shape. h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

And then the accessories…

Divided Keys necklace & padlock earings – sale price £2.50 for all.  I have worn this necklace loads since we’ve got back and absolutely love its uniqueness.

Blue necklace – £2 (reduced from £9.99), star keychain – 50p (reduced from £4.99), starburst earings – £2 (reduced from £6.99)h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

Gold earings – £3.95.  Wanted some simple drop studs for ages (where part hangs under your ear) and these were a total bargain.

h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog Lips purse £2 (reduced from £10) and lips cosmetic bag £2.99 h&m haul via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

If I’d of paid to store my luggage in the hold I would of bought even more!   Many of these items are instore now at H&M UK.  Look out for them all in future outfit posts.

Jumpsuit Joy

You’ve got to love a jumpsuit.  Its the easiest thing to wear (well, apart from if youre rushing to the loo!).

A patterned version can be slightly unflattering if you are curvy so I pick ones that pull in at the waist or wear a belt with them.

I also like this one as its buttoned up so you can wear it shirt-like or undone with a vest or t-shirt underneath as I have today.

Primark jumpsuit #ootd via always a blue sky girl blogI am wearing a Primark ‘pyjama’ style jumpsuit in size 12.  I have had to shorten it (being 5’2″ is such fun) but apart from that it is as bought.  Underneath I have a white t-shirt and have co-ordinated it with white shoes.   If it was evening, heels would look great but this is a working/running around after kids day!Primark jumpsuit #ootd via always a blue sky girl blog  Primark jumpsuit #ootd via always a blue sky girl blog

Tell me about it, stud…

I do love a bit of detail in an outfit – a flash of metallic, a statement necklace or a great bit of embellishment.  In the words of a vamped up Sandy in Grease…”tell me about it, stud…” and studs are what we have today!!!

M&Co. rainbow print blouse

I’ve been blogging about my favourite pieces from the M&Co. summer 2015 range and today is the turn of their rainbow print blouse priced at £29.

I LOVE this top!  The print is perfect, it has a cute slip underneath and is light and floaty.  It is cut to be slightly longer at the back and has button details at the sleeves.  I am wearing a size 10 and I’d say its average sizing. M&Co rainbow print blouse outfit of the day #ootd always a Blue Sky Girl blog

I’ve made a slight change to the fit of this blouse as it had a small stitch at the bust line holding the front more tightly together.  Being a bit busty, this wasnt flattering on me so I undid it so the top wraps accross my front (and ample bosom) freely.

I am wearing it with a simple gold necklace, skinny jeans and yellow wedge shoes.  Perfect for the sunny, yet not hot yet weather.  I just know this blouse is going to become one of my favourites, after all who doesnt love a rainbow?

Styling statement trousers

Wearing a strong pattern can be a bit of a challenge.  I have a great pair of trousers from Matalan but although I love them I sometimes struggle to style them.

So how do you style a pair of very strongly patterned statement tousers?

The key is if you go patterned on the bottom keep it plain on the top.  The shape of these trousers is a cigarette pant shape – slim fitting with a flat waistband.  A very 1960’s inspired look.  Matalan statement trousers via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

I co-ordinated the trousers with a cobalt blue shirt and jumper combo plus nude pointy flats for a bit of glamour.

I carried on the slightly 60s vibe with full hair and blue eye make-up. Matalan statement trousers via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

So would you go for a crazy pattern on your legs like me?

The H&M 2015 Conscious Collection has just gone live in store and online, and oh my, its a great one!  I have a few pieces from previous collections and they are all amazing quality and that bit more unusual and I always get comments when wearing them.

What is H&M’s conscious collection?  Well its built on seven commitments from the company, the plan being to create a better fashion future.

Dita Von Teese – Starlift lingerie

A couple of days ago Dita Von Teese ran two photos one after the other on her Instagram feed showing one of her new lingerie lines.

I just love the fact there are showing the range on two different body shapes without any fuss or fanfare.  Each look is slightly different but still strong, sexy and feminine and fits to the Dita Van Teese brand look.

Her lingerie is just gorgeous and is quite clearly is designed for any girl who wants it.  Its not ‘plus size’, its not ‘main range’, its just the range.

I think wearing pretty/sexy/fun lingerie makes all woman feel good.  It definitely works for me. We are all different shapes and sizes and 99% of us do not have model bodies – if we did we’d be all be working as models.  Its lucky really, who would do all the other jobs?!?

The sets look great regardless…and thats the point. Thanks Dita x

Meow!!!

Its a busyish Tuesday, I’ve got work to do, my son is still off school on his Easter break, the sun is shining and its a jeans and t-shirt kinda day for me…

I’ve teamed a boxy cat face t-shirt from TopShop with a boyfriend cut jean and a lowish heel patent studded shoe.  Being a shortie I’ve rolled and sewed the jeans to just above ankle length – as they are a bargain price pair from Primark a bit of customisation can make all the difference.  Plus a shorter length makes them much more flattering for the more petite girl.

Plus I’m wearing some oversized cat eye sunglasses…of course! 😻😸😻.  This pair from ASOS are showstoppers.  I love their 50’s vibe…topshop tee and boyfriend jeans ASOS sunglasses look via Always a Blue Sky Girl blog

Love is in the air…well on my chest at least!

A few weeks back I blogged about how I had fallen in love with quite a few items from M&Co.’s SS15 range (see blog here). I decided to treat myself to a couple of pieces and today I’m wearing a casual look with the ‘LOVE’ jumper I just had to have!

When I saw this jumper I wanted it immediately. A grey marl knit with flecks of pink and a hot pink intarsia logo spelling “love xx” it is perfect for a easy casual outfit.  I’m wearing a size 10 here and I’d say its a normal/slightly generous fit.  M&Co.’s main range runs 10-20 so if you want a size 8 you need to go to the petite section.

I wore the jumper with dark indigo skinny jeans from New Look and heeled boots from Marks and Spencer.  I added a pink vest from Matalan underneath for an extra pop of colour and some co-ordinating lipstick.  I also added two necklaces from Claires Accessories for a pretty layered effect.

I think I’m in love with my new jumper! It is lovely quality, with a dense yet soft knit and well worth the money. Look out for the other fabulous M&Co. item I bought in a future blog coming soon.

NEWSFLASH – This is now £14 in the sale… grab it before it sells out!
